CHAPTER 10: A Break in the Action

Published on 1 August 2025 at 12:37

When I started my autobiographical blog about 6 weeks ago my goal was to inspire others by sharing my current Cancer journey, plus it's therapeutic for me. If you have checked it out already, hopefully you are entertained by my story, but even more so inspired!

It has been a grind battling this disease. Eleven rounds of chemo infusions so far with one to go in Boerne, Texas, which is an hour and a half round trip twice a month. But the necessary worst is yet to come. I will soon begin daily M-F radiation treatments plus continued chemo in San Antonio, a more than a 2 hour round rip. Needless to say that will be a huge financial drain covering the gas with all those daily treatment visits. Then after the end of of 7 months of treatments, I will likely have to have surgery, which would be an ileostomy that would require me to wear an ileostomy bag for 6 week. Yep, this is a marathon battle.

Though I am on Medicare (and Social Security) there are still many expenses not covered financially. My wife D'Anna is still working a 40 hour a week job, but it is impossible for me to work for the foreseeable future. Between the expenses associated with my treatments & the expense of daily living, it is stretching us beyond our limits. I hate just asking for a handout, so I figured that I could offer something in return that you can enjoy by recounting my incredible, but improbable life story. If so, I would appreciate, if you feel led to do so, donating whatever amount you feel comfortable with to show you enjoy hearing about my crazy life! Or even if you don't follow My Blog we would still appreciate your help. ALL will be greatly appreciated! The amount listed as a goal is strictly arbitrary, but not above what we could use. Keep in mind GoFundMe takes 2.9% plus $.30 to process each transaction.

My sincerest thanks to all who have contibuted so far! I am so blessed too have so many wonderful friends and  a great family. Again, my many thanks, and may God bless each and everyone of you for your love & support!!
